Strange Attractors was a 6′ long x  4′ high wall of blinking lights that simulates the behavior of individual fireflies in a large mass. In a natural landscape, fireflies’ blinking will synchronize. The blinking is effected by the level of light exposure. Participants can shine flashlights on the wall and get real-time feedback on how their outside influence impacts the fireflies’ behavior. This project was originally exhibited at Northern Spark Art Festival in St. Paul, MN.

The project was later repurposed to display colorful patterns.
