Star Tree was an interactive sound and light sculpture included in the festival centerpiece funded by the Burning Man Organization. The alien tree held light-up “stars” which would flicker and fade while visitors recorded an audio wish upon the 10-foot tall tree and listened to wishes played back randomly.

Star Seed is a 2-foot alien plant seed made of metal, lying in an open pod. Layered sounds emanated from the pod and at night light glowed through the gaps.
The two pieces were created and shown separately, but they are an evolution of the same concept and exist in the same world. The seed grows into a tree. They now live together in our backyard.
